Troubleshooting during the election

If people need help or get an error during the election, here are some ideas for troubleshooting the issue.

ProblemAction to take
I don't have a device to use1) Borrow a device from the people sitting next to you
2) Use one of the voting stations at the back of the hall
My device isn't chargedYou can plug in your device at the back of the hall
I can't connect to the wifi1) Use mobile data to access the voting pages
2) Use one of the voting stations at the back of the hall
3) Ask a Tech Buddy to help you connect to the wifi
My web browser won't open the ballot1) Make sure you're running the latest version of your web browser. You may need to update your web browser if you're using an out-of-date version. The election software works on the latest versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Internet Explorer.
2) Use one of the voting stations at the back of the hall
I don't have a Voter ID or Voter KeyIf you're registered as a Representative, you will have received a speaker number at registration. As a Representative, you should have your voter details on the back of your lanyard.

If you're registered as an Observer, you won't have received a speaker number at registration and therefore you're not entilted to vote.

If you're registered as a Representative and you don't have voting details, see an NZEI Te Riu Roa staff member.
I've lost my Voter ID or Voter KeyLet the staff at the registration desk know as soon as possible.
They will cancel your voter credentials and issue you with a new Voter ID and Voter Key.
My Voter ID or Voter Key doesn't work1) Make sure you have entered your Voter ID and Voter Key correctly. Your voter details are case-sensitive
2) See an NZEI Te Riu Roa staff member
I got an error message: “The provided Voter ID and Voter Key do not exist. Please try again.”1) Make sure you have entered your Voter ID and Voter Key correctly. Your voter details are case-sensitive
2) See an NZEI Te Riu Roa staff member
I got an error message: “You have already voted in this election.”This error means you have already voted in the election.
If you haven't voted, it means your Voter ID and Voter Key has been compromised. Please see the NZEI Te Riu Roa staff at the voting stations at the back of the hall.
I got an error message: “Voting for this election has closed.”Once an election is complete and the results have been announced, the election will close. If the election is still going:
1) Check you are clicking on the correct election link
I got an error message: “This election has not started yet. Please try again later.”Voting will only open once announced in Annual Meeting. If voting is open:
1) Refresh the page to reload the ballot
2) Check you have clicked the correct voting link
I got an error message: "Error Validating Token"This error occurs when you have two voting windows open at once.
1) Close your browser window and login again using your Voter ID and Voter Key
2) If voting from the email, ensure you have only clicked the email link once
