Rural Teaching Principals Conference 2023
Refresh Rethink Reconnect
We have reached the maximum number for RTPC 2023 and no longer taking anymore registrations.
Wednesday 31 May - Friday 2 June 2023, Queenstown
We are excited to announce that next year's Rural Teaching Principals Conference will be held at the Millennium in Queenstown.
This year registration and three days release cost for principals attending the Rural & Teaching Principals Conference will be covered by the professional learning and development fund that was part of the 2019 collective agreement settlement. This means Principals will only need to cover the cost of travel and accommodation to attend the conference. We will confirm registration for the first 170 principals who complete registration and will operate a wait list if demand exceeds conference capacity.
Optional Additional Workshop 30 May 2023
In addition to the conference this year, an optional anti racism workshop is being offered the day before the conference starts. It will take place in Queenstown at the same venue as the conference. Costs for one additional day release, registration and one night's accommodation will also be covered by the professional learning and development fund. Numbers for this workshop are limited and will be available on a first in basis. In the event that demand exceeds capacity, a wait list will be established. if you have already registered for the conference and would like to attend the additional workshop, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
As part of the 2018 settlement of the Primary Principals' Collective Agreement, a $300,000 per year fund for professional development was agreed. The NZEI Te Riu Roa Principals Council has been responsible for deciding how this will be used, based on input from members and a terms of reference set out with the Ministry of Education. The impact of covid-19 has led to underspending of the fund, so this year it will be used to subsidise costs of the Rural and Teaching Principal's Conference that is taking place in Queenstown. The fund will also be used to provide PD workshops in some main centre's during 2023.
